ਰਾਤੀਂ ਜਾਗੇਂ ਤੇ ਸ਼ੇਖ ਸਦਾਵੇਂ ਰਾਤੀਂ ਜਾਗਨ ਕੁੱਤੇ

ਰਾਤੀਂ ਜਾਗ ਕਰਨ ਰਖਵਾਲੀ  ਦਿਨੇ ਜਾ ਰੜੇ  ਤੇ ਸੁੱਤੇ

ਮਾਲਿਕ ਦਾ ਦਰ ਕਦੇ ਨਾ ਛਡਦੇ ਭਾਵੇਂ ਵੱਜਣ ਸੌ ਸੌ ਜੁੱਤੇ

ਮੁਰਸ਼ਦ ਜਿੰਨਾ ਦੇ ਕਾਬਿਲ ਬੁੱਲਿਆ ਉਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਭਾਗ ਜਾਗ ਪਏ ਸੁੱਤੇ

ਉਠ ਬੁੱਲਿਆ ਉਠ ਪੀਰ ਮਨਾ ਲੈ ਨਹੀ ਤੇ ਬਾਜੀ ਲੈ ਗਏ  ਕੁੱਤੇ
                                                                  ਤੈਥੋਂ  ਉੱਤੇ

Thou are awake at night and people call thee Sheikh

 But the dogs  are also at night awake

They keep a watchful glance at night

and go to sleep in the wasteland during daylight

They never leave their Master's house

 Even if beaten have no grouse

O Bulla, Those with able masters are a lucky  class

So serve the  master or the dogs shall thee surpass

Yes it is true! Miracles happen.

  Our family has been associated with Nanaksar sampraday ( one of the schools of Sikhism) for about 100 years since the times of its founder Baba Nand Singhji . Though,all the sangis   (devotees) of Nanaksar have been showered with spiritual and material blessings, a few have had such experiences which appear unbelievable to many.   I tell you a true story as told by my late uncle (tayaji) S Kirpal Singh. The year was most probably 1965. PUNJABI RECIPES IN PUNJABI LANGUAGE-- PUNJABI PAKSAAL

Welcome Note      This section attempts to introduce to the lovers of Punjabi cuisine, the rich tradition of Punjabi recipes handed down from generation to generation. Paksaal in Punjabi means kitchen. The word is perhaps derived from Sanskrit Pakshala, literally, a place for cooking. The word initially appears in the Sikh holy book Sri Guru Granth Sahib in a verse which symbolically refers to the fact that only a devotee with a pure heart can unite with God. The verse metaphorically refers to the food offered by the bride to his husband, cooked lovingly by her in the kitchen cleaned with a great effort. (SGGS page 1266 ) It is intended to update the page from time to time by adding new recipes. The recipe is basically written in Punjabi followed with English translation for non-Punjabis.
