 Nanaksar Sampraday (School) of Sikhism Baba Nand Singh (Punjabi ਬਾਬਾ ਨੰਦ ਸਿੰਘ (1870-1943) was an ascetic Sikh sage. He was born in village Sherpur in the district of Ludhiana in Indian state of Punjab in the year 1870. Yes it is true! Miracles happen.

  Our family has been associated with Nanaksar sampraday ( one of the schools of Sikhism) for about 100 years since the times of its founder Baba Nand Singhji . Though,all the sangis   (devotees) of Nanaksar have been showered with spiritual and material blessings, a few have had such experiences which appear unbelievable to many.   I tell you a true story as told by my late uncle (tayaji) S Kirpal Singh. The year was most probably 1965. Baba Ishar Singh who had succeeded Baba Nand Singhji had planned to build a 13 storied Gurudwara   Nanaksar building at his birthplace in village Jhoradan in Ludhiana district of Punjab to commemorate his first meeting with his mentor Baba Nand Singh who visited this village during his preaching tours.   This place was about twelve miles from the main Nanaksar Gurdwara, the headquarters of the sampraday located at village Kaleran near the township of Jagraon in Punjab. PUNJABI RECIPES IN PUNJABI LANGUAGE-- PUNJABI PAKSAAL

Welcome Note      This section attempts to introduce to the lovers of Punjabi cuisine, the rich tradition of Punjabi recipes handed down from generation to generation. Paksaal in Punjabi means kitchen. The word is perhaps derived from Sanskrit Pakshala, literally, a place for cooking. The word initially appears in the Sikh holy book Sri Guru Granth Sahib in a verse which symbolically refers to the fact that only a devotee with a pure heart can unite with God. The verse metaphorically refers to the food offered by the bride to his husband, cooked lovingly by her in the kitchen cleaned with a great effort. (SGGS page 1266 ) It is intended to update the page from time to time by adding new recipes. The recipe is basically written in Punjabi followed with English translation for non-Punjabis.
