PUNJABI RECIPES IN PUNJABI LANGUAGE-- PUNJABI PAKSAAL

Welcome Note      This section attempts to introduce to the lovers of Punjabi cuisine, the rich tradition of Punjabi recipes handed down from generation to generation. Paksaal in Punjabi means kitchen. The word is perhaps derived from Sanskrit Pakshala, literally, a place for cooking. The word initially appears in the Sikh holy book Sri Guru Granth Sahib in a verse which symbolically refers to the fact that only a devotee with a pure heart can unite with God. The verse metaphorically refers to the food offered by the bride to his husband, cooked lovingly by her in the kitchen cleaned with a great effort. (SGGS page 1266 ) It is intended to update the page from time to time by adding new recipes. The recipe is basically written in Punjabi followed with English translation for non-Punjabis.
